Inner Change

who-look-outside-dreams1.jpg On the premise that the universe is pure energy and that beings can only perceive other beings based on their individual composition as observers, it is safe to say that there are as many world views as there are beings in the universe. To simplify matters through example, certain animals and insects have the capacity to see ultra violet rays and colors which present a world entirely alien to human beings and other life forms. Some of them have the capacity to hear sound at levels beyond the reach of human auditory faculties. And on the human sphere, there are some of us that see ghosts and other spirit beings while others cannot, despite looking in the same direction. On this note, one can just imagine the variety of world views and that it is entirely futile to expect two beings to see the same object or experience the same event in an equal breadth.

Life is an individual journey where external (?*) objects appear to manifest themselves based entirely on the observer’s disposition.

Human development is based on two factors. The raw material that make up an individual and the programs consisting of belief systems, values, knowledge and experiences that are deposited into the raw material, altering it as it evolves from one moment to the next. A single event will affect each individual in distinctly unique ways relative to his make up. Two individuals will observe and get affected by the same event in two distinctly different ways in varying degrees but not necessarily opposite or contradictory.

There is a common desire to see the world before us behave in ways that we feel it should. We want people to be and behave in a way that is suitable to our liking and we manipulate and exercise control over each individual or creature that is susceptible to our machinations to extreme lengths that we are willing to exterminate their individuality if they refuse to conform to how we think they should be. Children are the first victims of this genocide in individuality. They are raised in ways deemed best for them. They are pushed in directions completely alien to their calling. Would be artists are driven to become businessmen and high earning professionals. Visionaries and psychics are labeled deviants and in one point in human history, burnt at the stake. Slow learners are ridiculed to a point where they abandon their ambitions for not being at pace with the rest of the pack.

But nothing is more sinful than killing our own individuality by not honoring who we are. We abort our own unique inclinations because it will not please our parents or the society we live in. We abandon our pursuit of happiness in favor of sacrificing for others. We self flagellate and torment our souls with guilt when we choose ourselves over others. We decide on matters to satisfy others rather than ourselves. We indulge in self denial and self invalidation. We believe we exist for others. We succumb to accusations that taking care of one’s self is selfish and egoistic. We forget that by being true to ourselves, we help others and by being something other than what we are, we deprive others of the gift of who we are.

Inner change is altering our individual composition to enable us to enjoy the world in a different light. An individual who perceives the world as hateful will always experience that hate and hold suspect any loving act directed towards him. Inner change is about changing attitudes, beliefs and programs that determine our world view and how the world comes upon us. It is about discarding paradigms that stifle our growth and full development as human beings. It is about knowing our role in this life and honoring it as our unique participation in this universal drama. And by doing so, the world will manifest itself in the nature relative to how we are inside.

This is not to say that we abandon our discretion and bask in our inner world by being delusional and in denial that there is a more aggressive world that imposes itself upon us beyond the shield of perception. Until we master our influence over our total existence, we are subjugated to more powerful beings in the universe and that is not to say that we surrender but rather proceed carefully and steadfastly in our spiritual evolution through this human experience.

* external objects are energy pockets that exist as potentialities until an observer relates to it. The world will appear in relation to the observer’s level of perception to include those within and outside his circle of influence. The objective is to discern which is which.
