Who me?

smile

I have often wondered who I am and what my purpose in life is. There are many schools of thought that attempt to guide us in self actualization, from the mundane to the esoteric, some of them contradicting each other but generally they say the same thing in different ways.

Unable to find answers at the beginning and even in the middle of my life journey, I can only come close by taking a look at what I have become and in so doing begin to see what I was meant to do in this life.

Born a Virgo-Dragon on the 13th of September 1952 in the Philippines Baguio highlands, educated by Belgian nuns, priests and their Filipino “associates” at St Theresa’s College and St. Louis Boys’ High School, I moved down to the more radical world of the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City at the age of 16 in pursuit of a degree in medicine. With a few more years in the UP College back in Baguio and further south at the Siliman University in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental,  I dropped out after seven years of drifting from the academe to activist to Jesus freak to hippie to tennis player then acquiring more education from the Ateneo School of Business, East West Center in Hawaii and private mentors as I got sucked in by the corporate and business world spending the last 30 years weaving in and out of its walls. The last ten years were spent consulting (kibitzing or backseat driving) other people how to run their businesses and personal lives after having gone through the same gauntlet many times for 23 years.

At 58, I am witnessing the final chapters of my life story unfold. This particular episode (blogging) is all about sharing my experiences and perspective with those that are fresh as well as veterans on the trail of the human drama. It is also about catharsis, cleansing and closure.

I hope you will enjoying reading my blogs and story book.

Thank you to all who have visited my pages. May you appreciate your own corner of the universe as it unfolds before you.

Namaste.

2009. The Awakening.

” Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans; that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. Events issue  from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meeting and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his way. I learned deep respect for one of Goethe’s couplets:

“Whatever you can do, or dream, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic i it.”

W.H Murray
